Random thoughts closing out an exciting year for AI & Quantum Computing.
- Large Language Models (LLMs) are not AI.
- LLMs are a component of AI.
- Much of intelligence as it interacts with the real world is not reasoning of the sort that language manipulates, but rather, reaction to simuli.
- The fascination with LLMs will yield to a more balanced approach that takes into account all the infrastructure of intelligence.
- Quantum Computing is making amazing strides
- In 3 - 5 years we will have genuinely useful commercially available devices which we may still need to access in the cloud.
- Look for convergence of Quantum Computing with LLMs.
- LLMs are trigonometric in nature.
- Digital binary computers, including GPUs, are arithmetic engines.
- Quantum Computers are trigonometry engines.
