Change your zSecure 'Confirm' Settings

Overview of zSecure Confirm Setup

In order to best work on a system that uses zSecure, you will want to ensure that your ‘Confirm’ settings within zSecure are set up correctly.

These may appear as shown below:

How to get to the Setup Menu

To navigate to this area from the ISPF Primary Option Menu, you must enter the following into your command line (↵ represents pressing the Enter key):

TSO CKR ↵ SE.4 ↵

An overview of customising these options

Customising your own settings is as simple as putting a check/tick (/) in any area with an underline, or entering a value where appropriate (e.g. Action on command = 1)

Some settings worth considering

Queuing of commands

Set-up of the "Action on Command" and "Confirmation" fields can ensure that commands are not immediately executed, thereby giving users a chance to review commands before they are issued. Personally, I prefer use of 1. Queue and 4. All respectively.

Overtype fields

Ticking the “_Command Generation - Overtype fields in panels” checkbox will allow you to type amendments directly into the zSecure interface.

RACF Commands

Ticking the “Command Generation - RACF commands” checkbox will ensure that those aforementioned amendments are used by zSecure to automatically generate the relevant RACF commands which can then be ran instantly or submitted in batch.

Change Generated Commands

Ticking the “Command Generation - Change generated commands” checkbox will allow you to make edits before the commands are executed (rather than browsing the commands).

Generate SETROPTS Commands

Ticking the “Command Generation - Generate SETROPTS REFRESH commands” checkbox will generate the relevant RACF refresh commands, such as for updating the ACL of groups / datasets / general resources, or issuing a RACLIST REFRESH.
